Parade of Fabric Napkins

Cloth napkins are a great way to dress up a table setting.  They add a lot of character, and can be found in so many different patterns and colors.

They look so simple to make:

Or buy, if you aren't the sewing type :)
REVERSIBLE Pink Orange Fabric Napkins, Amy Butler Ripple Stripe, Park Fountains, Eco Friendly Cloth, Reusable, Set of 4, Lunch, Dinner
REVERSIBLE Floral Aqua Pink Fabric Napkins, Heather Bailey Pop Garden, Eco Friendly Cloth, Reusable, Set of 4, Lunch, Dinner

These ones have been stenciled.  I love their graphic appeal.

Like something a little more frilly?  These ones are made from an Amy Butler fabric with a rick rack trim.

What a great way to really make a table setting your own!

5 Way to Know If A Home Is "The One"

Saying Images-Amazing Images With Inspired Sayings - Part 2

My husband and I have been home-hunting lately.  Wow, what a process!  Our real estate agent emailed us an article on how you know if a home is "The One."  I thought it was interesting - so, here we go:

1)  You instantly feel possessive of it.

2) You start rationalizing it's flaws away.

3)  The kitchen and bathroom don't disgust you.  (That's a BIG one for me!)

4)  You involuntarily envision your family, furniture, decor, daily activities in that home.

5)  You loose interest in seeing other homes.

To see the full article, go here.

I don't  think we can say "YES" to all those questions yet...I guess we will keep looking!

How did you know your house was, "The One"?

One Item Every Home Needs...

Or two...a pair of ottomans.

Why?

Well, to start off they are just so dang cute!  I can't help but love them!  They truly are so versatile.

Here are a few different ways you can utilize a pair of ottomans in your home:

Slipped under a console table & taken out and used as extra seating when needed

As foot stools

Just 'floating' in a room and used as additional seating

Used as a cocktail/coffee table

Placed at the end of a bed - perfect for putting on your shoes.  (I love how this looks)

Placed in a nook of your home around a small table (There are three ottomans in this photo, but its okay...who's counting :)

Just a little random mom tid-bit about ottomans:
One of the greatest characteristics about ottomans in their soft corners.  Awesome if you have little ones running around - one less hard thing for them to hit their heads on.  Also, they are the perfect height for infants/toddlers to stand up to.  My daughter loves ours.  I currently just have one ottoman, but eventually I want a second one to go with it.  They don't have to be exactly the same, just work together.

Do you have a pair ottomans you love?

Boy's Room Design

I have been working on a boy's room design for a client.  The client wanted a car theme (not too overdone), and the color scheme was going be blues, oranges, and greens.  Since picking out these items there have been a few changes to the design (that I will show later) but I thought I would just post this design because I think it turned out quite cute.

If you are interested in design services email me at rooms(dot)interiordesign(at)gmail.com

'UGLY' Show - & - Tell

Hey Guys!  I have Andrea here today dishing about an 'UGLY' in her home...something most of us can relate to....:)
______________________________

Hey everyone! My name is Andrea, and I blog over at Strawberry-Chic. I am a mother of 1 (almost 2) and an interior design graduate. My husband and I have been married for 5 years, and just recently moved out of our little college town in Idaho and have been trying to start designing our home the way we have always wanted.

I was so excited when Melissa asked me to be apart of her "Ugly" Show & Tell Series. Which sounds a little weird right?...I mean, I don't typically like to remind myself of all of the ugly things in my home that have overstayed their welcome. But, I think it's fun to get a REAL LIFE glimpse into other people's lives and it's interesting to see that contrary to what some may think, most people do not live in a picture perfect home.

There are multiple furniture pieces in my home that I would like to change, but the one that particularly bothers me can be found in my master bedroom...

Can you guess what it is?...

It's the hideous folding table located right at the foot of our bed!

Now, normally you wouldn't see a table at the foot of so someone's bed, but about a year ago my husband and I decided we needed somewhere to set our computer so we could watch movies at night, and the table has been there ever since (although it usually accumulates a bunch of clothes and junk during the week, lucky for you, today was cleaning day :)

If you are wondering about the paint stains...the table was originally used as an "art desk" when my husband and I were first married so it's been through a lot!

I would LOVE to replace the table with either of these options...

Or one of these...

Thanks again Melissa, I had tons of fun with this project... hopefully I can get rid of the table and find something more aesthetically pleasing soon!

That seems like something my husband would want to do...I better make sure he doesn't see this post!  I don't want to give him any ideas!

Andrea, thank you, - thank you for being here today!  Make sure you go tell her 'hello' on her blog, Strawberry Chic!

Project Peek

Remember this post?

In that post, I asked my reader's opinion on what photograph they liked best to accompany the blue flower photo. About 20 people left comments - the most comments I have ever gotten!  My client (in Utah) sent me this quick iphone picture of how the two framed prints looked.
I think they look great, the colors are perfect.

Have a great day!
